Nelson Newsletter - May 2021

 

Dear Ministry Partners, 

House Church God continues to give us opportunities to share the gospel with people here in Atlanta. Recently I met Titus, a 35-year-old single man, at LA Fitness. He shared how both of his parents died of cancer when he was a child. Then he told me how unhappy he was living apart from God. “I prayed yesterday, God would you take control of my life.” We spoke about how to know God personally through faith in Christ and that salvation is not dependent on our good deeds. He listened intently! Danelle and I would like to have him over for dinner soon. This photo is of recent Sunday morning. We are discussing John 13. Our daughter Stephanie, far right, joined us. She and her husband, David, lead a house church in Virginia which is healthy and growing in love and commitment.

46 Years of Marriage I asked Danelle on May 10^th if she would marry me again. She said yes! God united us in marriage on May 10^th, 1975, and it has been fantastic! We were talking recently about how we are not the same two young people we were back then – not just physically, but mentally and spiritually. God has dramatically transformed our lives through our marriage, and we are the better for it! At our wedding we sang Psalm 34:3 “O magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together.” Please pray this will continue to be our mission together!

Mother’s Fall My dear mother, Alice, fell a week ago and had compression fractures. She has been in a lot of pain all week. Yesterday they did a Kyphoplasty procedure, injecting cement into the 3 fractured areas of her back. It provided immediate relief from some of the pain. Today she was cleared to enter a 24-hour rehab center. She will go there in a few days. We are trusting God to take care of her.

                                               Prayer & Praise                                                        

1. Atlanta Church - Pray for many people to come to Christ, including Tony, Diana, Jade, Ken, Titus, and Mandy. Ask God to move our hearts because time is running out as Jesus said, "We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work." John 9:4   

2. Mother - Pray for Alice to heal, learn to walk safely, and be able to return home soon. She told me how grateful she is to be feeling better, able to walk again, and for more opportunities to love others!

3. Our Marriage - Pray for continued growth in our love for one another, our passion to share the gospel, and for wisdom to help others have Christ-centered marriages that will impact the world, starting at home.
