Nelson Newsletter - October 2026

The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people. Luke 2:10

Dear Friends,

I know it is not Christmas when we read the story of Christ’s birth, but this Good News is not limited to a time and place or a certain group of people, it is for all people, for all times! There is nothing of greater importance for the human condition than the sacrificial death of Jesus for our sins. He came to die for our sins and bring us into a relationship with God! There is nothing sweeter to the sinner’s ears than this message of forgiveness and new life! And that is where we come in. We have tasted and seen that the Lord is indeed good and He satisfies. He saved our souls! Now we can tell all people the Good News! We don’t want to keep the gospel message a secret. Instead, let us boldly proclaim Christ to all those in darkness! May the love of Jesus motivate us enough to share the Good News this fall! (2 Cor 5:17)

Thank you for empowering us with your prayers and financial support to continue to bring life and light to those in darkness. Here are some ways we have been able to do this recently…

Atlanta Church Danelle and I continue to disciple the precious people that make up our church and they build our faith as well! We have monthly men’s and women’s meetings to share what God has been teaching us and pray for one another. God has helped us to be honest and encouraging to one another. The saints were a tremendous blessing to us after Danelle returned home from the hospital. What a treasure!

Our Sunday meetings are exciting because of the heartfelt worship, Bible study with personal application, participation in prayer, sincerity and love for each other. We have had many opportunities to share the Good News with our neighbors, employees of local businesses, and folks who come to our house to buy my honey.

I continue to meet with my friend Nick. I appreciate his love for his wife, and his desire to share the Good News with his co-workers and friends. Danelle and I have one-on-one times with other disciples every week to build their faith in God. Pray for our church to be faithful to the Lord!

Pittsburgh Wedding. Danelle and I had a delightful time at her niece’s wedding last week. The wedding ceremony was Christ-centered, and the Good News was presented clearly. While we were there for a long weekend, we had numerous gospel opportunities, as well as deeply meaningful conversations with some family members who know the Lord. Danelle and I had some quality time with each other – spending an extra two nights on the road and making the long trip easier!

Nathan, Judah and Merry after returning home at 4am!

Merry’s Baby. Judah Evans finally made his grand appearance on September 27th after holding out for an extra week. Mother and son are doing well. We are thrilled to have a 23rd grandchild! Praise God!

                                        Prayer & Praise

1. Danelle’s Family Pray for God to save those who don’t know Him, and for the believers to grow and be good examples of Christ to them. Danelle and I have been praying for 51 years for them! Thank you!

2. Nashville Church A few couples visited recently! Praise the Lord! Pray for their church to be united and to be living for God’s purpose.

3. Carbondale Church Pray for Brent to recover from his running injury. Kerrianna and Jeffery are overwhelmed with fostering several children. Eve and Gavin are seeking God for their relationship! Ask God to sell David and Stephanie’s house. God is listening to your prayers! “I love the Lord, because He hears my voice and my supplications.  Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.” Psalm 116:1-2

4. The United States of America Please pray for revival in America. We all see the desperate need for people to turn from their self-centered lives to God. Ask God to revive our love for Him, His word, His people and those who don’t know Him yet. I just finished reading Eric Metaxas’ book, Revolution. It is a detailed account of the American Revolution and God’s miraculous part in the birth of our nation. It is captivating, educational, and spiritually uplifting. It is one of the best books I have ever read! I highly recommend it!

Thank you so much for interceding and giving!
