Nelson Newsletter - September 2025

 September 2025

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.” Jude 20-21

Dear Praying Friends,

Charlie Kirk loved our Savior and was passionate about helping others to come to know Him. Charlie’s life was taken by an assassin’s bullet this week. He left behind a wife and two young children. Charlie unapologetically proclaimed the Good News to college students all over America and overseas, engaging them in open debate on the campus. He was kind and respectful to those who disagreed.

This has been a difficult week for those of us who know and love the Lord Jesus. Our emotions have ranged from sadness and anger to fear and insecurity. Many of us have prayed fervently for his family. Many of us have evaluated our own lives. Many of us have come away from praying to God with new resolve and courage to preach the gospel to a lost world. Keep praying! Keep preaching Jesus!

This is our prayer letter where we inform you of some specific answers to your prayers and request your intercession for current needs. Thank you for praying in the Holy Spirit for us and for those we serve!

Please do not underestimate the power of your prayers! “The prayer of a righteous person has great effectiveness.” James 5:16 Remember who you are praying to – the Almighty!

Prayer & Praise

“Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3

Portsmouth Praise God He answers your prayers! Josh has been attending their gatherings and is getting counsel from the other couples with his parenting. Pray that he comes to know the Father! Pray for Nancy to come to know Christ too. She has been attending their game night.

Carbondale Keiranna and Jeffrey have taken in a relative who is a single mother. They are helping her with childcare even though she just found a job. She also needs the Lord Jesus. Pray too for Stephanie’s new friend, Jinel, to get saved. She was very receptive to the gospel recently!

Nashville Pray for Ethan, Mike, and Cindy as they go to Spain to encourage church planters. Pray for my sister’s neighbor to come to know Jesus. Pray for their church to grow.

Conference (Oct 28-Nov1) Ask God to prepare our hearts to hear from Him and apply truth!

Atlanta Church Pray for Grace and Ward as they raise Fred and Will. They are going to switch to a different therapy practice for their special needs. The twins enjoy homeschooling - especially math! Ask God to save these precious little boys!

Nelson Family Please continue to ask God to provide jobs for our two sons-in-laws, Ward and Nathan. The movie industry in Atlanta has suffered significant setbacks. Mother had a cancerous growth on her leg successfully removed 2 weeks ago! No cancer was found afterwards!  Praise God! Please pray for Danelle to recover from her own recent surgery so that we can enjoy our vacation next week. We plan to do a lot of hiking as we celebrate 50 years together!

Would you please stop right now and take a few minutes to pray for these needs? I know it is easy to read about the needs of others and to get busy and forget to pray. Why not intercede now with faith in God?

“Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

Yours before the throne of grace,

Steve and Danelle
